First Mother's Day Reflections

Mother's Day 2012

There's nothing like becoming a parent to make you reflect on the kind of love God has for us.  One passage that has come to my mind frequently this year is from Isaiah 49:13-16, where God talks about his love for Israel:

For the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on His afflicted ones.  But Zion said, "The Lord has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me."  Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne?  Though she may forget, I will not forget you!  See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.

Can a mother forget the baby at her breast?  In case you have not had the ever-present responsibility of breastfeeding a baby as her sole source of nutrition, I will tell you: definitely not!!  I am constantly thinking of Jackie's needs, her well-being, her happiness, her sorrows, no matter how small.  I have to be there for her every 4 hours or she does not eat; it's just that simple.  How much more does our heavenly Father care for us?  When I think of that, I have never felt so noticed by Him.

We want to celebrate this love that our two mothers gave to us.  We are thoroughly convinced Jackie has the two best grandmas in the world.  We love you so much because you loved us first!
