Almost Famous

Our family has been in San Antonio for a month, and we're already in the paper! Kudos to our new church, Hope Community Church, for getting the word out about their second annual Easter Egg Drop and some great publicity for the church in the San Antonio Express-News`this week. You can view the article here or see the pics of our family below.

Where's Jackie?
Josh looking busy.
God has always amazed us with awesome church families that seem to fall right into our laps. Our pastor, Danny Price, and his wife Michelle moved with their 3 kids from McAllen, TX to start this church a year and a half ago. Now about 40 strong on Sunday mornings, the church has grown from a small living room meeting place to a theater a few miles from our house. We hope experiencing the growing pains of a church plant without a building in Virginia Beach will help us serve here in whatever capacity they need us. And having somewhere to go on Wednesdays and new friends to hang out with...that's priceless!

We hope you and your families have fun with your egg hunts, Easter baskets, bunny ears, and Easter dresses...and that you have a chance to celebrate the real meaning of Easter and the hope we have for eternal life because of Jesus' resurrection from the dead. As we get older and more of our loved ones have died, we have been faced with the true horror of the grave, and it makes us all the more hopeful for eternal life in heaven with those who have entrusted their guilty souls to Jesus.

I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of and eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:

"Death is swallowed up in victory. Oh death, where is your victory? Oh death, where is your sting?"

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:50-57
