Our First Post

THE GOODSeven months... that is how long little Jack-O-Baby has been waiting to experience the real world. Two more months and she will be able to share in all the great experiences that life has to offer. If she decides to present herself early, she may luck out and get to experience the release of the iPhone5. Ahhhhh... for now all this expectant parent can do is hope.
I'm not sure if Alison would agree, but this has truly been a dream pregnancy. No sickness, no scares, no swelling... It's the pregnancy Trifecta! And with the exception of that night that she had a leg cramp that caused her to reenact the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan, I'd say that is cause enough to celebrate. So tonight, I was thinking of opening a bottle of Pinot (2007 Frei Bro.) for myself and sparkling grape juice (2011 Welch's) for Alison so we may toast to our good fortune thus far.
The children's program at Cornerstone has been going through so many exciting changes lately that each week of new experiences only makes harder for us to accept our inevitable departure. It is going to be hardest to leave our church

THE BADStill trying to decide how our new donkey fits into the move and it looks like we are probably going to rent it out thanks to Alison's strong prompting. So far, Alison has managed to grow a child inside her body, work full time as a nurse, clean the donkey, cook for events, and most notably, she has successfully oppose the meddling of my Shower-Fairy. Case in point:
I suggested we could make some money moving ourselves to Texas... we just applied for the Navy to move us instead.
I suggested that the bacon left in the fridge for the week that we lost power was probably still ok to eat... it ended up in the garbage.
I suggested we should use our large suitcase as a makeshift crib until we move into our new place... we just got a Pack N' Play.

THE UGLYSincerely hoping that I can get through my hunny-do list by December. Most of it is not fun and Alison has been holding back on showing me the full list. Still on the pre-move list is getting the rust off the sidewalks, finishing the unfinished room upstairs, getting the patio poured, and arranging for temporary housing in Pensacola. On the pre-baby list is diapers, car-seat, stroller... and I need to return that large suitcase I bought, which we now have no need of. Involvement in church, school, my job, wife, and having strong opinions about everything can really wear on you after a while. My one ray of sunshine is my certainty that things will calm down once Jack-O-Baby arrives on the scene. My short term goal for tonight is to muscle my way past Alison's entourage of pillows and reclaim my side of the bed... wish me luck!

  1. Isn't is GREAT to have a wonderful wife who balances you and your little quirks out.. One suggestion from your loving mother who knows you very well. Take one project at a time and finish it completely before you start another. It'll be such a good feeling to have these things behind you before baby J arrives.
